Alloa Teenager Has Garden Transformed by Thistle Centre Staff
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Ross Davidson, a teenager from Alloa who is autistic, had his garden transformed as a result of a kind and generous gesture by staff at Stirling's Thistle Centre; understands that the shopping centre was initially approached by Ross's support workers from Scottish Autism with a request for a raffle prize to raise funds to buy items for the 19-year-old's garden; notes that, as a result, Thistle Centre staff, led by the centre director, Gary Turnbull, decided to volunteer to transform the space; acknowledges that the centre donated £2,500 to the project and, over the course of one extremely busy day, installed an adult swing, seating area, lighting, flower and vegetable planters and outdoor bean bag; notes that this gesture means that the fundraising money can be used to put together a sensory room for Ross, and that Scottish Autism no longer has to choose between this or the garden; thanks all the teams involved, and commends everyone for their extremely generous work.
