The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the P6 and P7 pupils of Deerpark Primary School in Sauchie on their fundraising for Cancer Research UK; understands that an astonishing £4,000 has been raised and presented to the Wee County Cancer Research UK Fundraising Group to help boost vital research; believes that, early in June 2019, the class organised the school's very own Race for Life, which is Cancer Research UK’s funding initiative, after learning that the mother of their teacher, Kate Wyman, had been diagnosed with the condition; considers that the race, which involved the whole school, as well as the neighbouring Lochies School, highlighted just how close the cause is to everyone's hearts; acknowledges that the fundraising target was initially £100 but quickly jumped to £500, however, the money continued to flow in thanks to the involvement of the wider Clackmannanshire community and that, by the day of the race, which saw pupils and staff run and walk a combined 605 km, they had raised around £3,300 with even more being donated throughout the event, to eventually reaching £4,000, and commends everyone involved for their magnificent efforts.
