Stranraer Hosting World Skiffie Championships 2019
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the organisers of the Skiffieworlds 2019 in Stranraer; recognises that this has brought competitors and visitors from all over the world to Stranraer and the surrounding area, providing a boost to the local economy; understands that teams from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, as well as mainland Europe, are competing; welcomes the community spirit shown in Stranraer to help ensure a successful event; considers that the event is fun for all the family with loads of entertainment on offer outwith the Skiffie Championships; welcomes the presence of HRH The Princess Royal at the event; supports the drive towards branding Stranraer as a place for leisure and marina activity, and wishes competitors and organisers all the best for a successful championship.
