Heart of the Travellers
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the charity, Heart of the Travellers (HOTT), on receiving £9,096 from the Big Lottery Fund; understands that this will fund the production of an illustrated children’s book based on The Yellow on the Broom, a classic autobiography narrating the childhood experiences of the Scottish Traveller, Betsy Whyte, during the 1920s and 1930s; notes that this book will be sent to every public library in Scotland, and hopes that the book, in appealing to three to seven-year-olds, will encourage young people to learn about different cultures with open minds.
