Street Pastors' 400th Tour of Inverclyde

That the Parliament acknowledges the work of the group, Inverclyde Street Pastors, which, since starting its work in Greenock town centre in 2008, has taken to the streets on a weekly basis on more than 400 occasions; understands that it recently extended its patch to include Kempock Street in Gourock and that, two years ago a rail pastors group was introduced to the area; recognises that these are volunteer groups involving Christians from various denominations who have a common purpose to help those who might need support during evenings and into the early hours of a Sunday morning and on trains; appreciates that their motto is "Caring, Listening, Helping" and that all of the volunteers undergo considerable training on a wide range of topics; believes that providing flip flops to avoid cut feet and carrying thermal blankets, water, first-aid kits and lollipops is a small gesture that can have a huge impact by freeing up emergency services’ resources; considers that, as the pastor teams work in partnership with police and ambulance services, they are best placed in the communities to support the work of the emergency services; believes that volunteering can be hugely rewarding, and thanks the street and rail pastors in Inverclyde and across Scotland for giving up their time and sleep to provide a listening ear and kind hand to people who find themselves in need in the early hours of the morning.
