Diageo's International Educational Play, Smashed
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Diageo on its award-winning international theatre production, Smashed, which toured 37 schools in Scotland in 2018, including in Lanarkshire; notes that performances of this educational play were followed up with an interactive workshop at which pupils were invited to ask the cast questions regarding the issues that it raised; acknowledges that an evaluation by Collingwood Learning found that it had a major impact on pupils’ understanding of alcohol issues and their attitude towards alcohol, and considers it tremendously encouraging that 96% of pupils who were involved with this are reportedly less likely to drink alcohol underage and that 91% said that they now feel equipped to make right alcohol choices.
