Conversation Cafés on World Suicide Prevention Day
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates representatives from ScotRail, the Railway Mission, Samaritans, NHS24 Breathing Space and British Transport Police, among other organisations, who are engaging and conversing with customers on the train about mental health issues on World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September 2019; notes that these Conversation Cafés are running for the rest of the week; hopes that the awareness week will remind staff and customers that, if they are concerned about someone they see on the railway or elsewhere, they should trust their instincts and offer a simple smile and a hello; considers that this small gesture could change someone’s mindset and make a huge difference to their lives, and believes that thousands of people working on the frontline of Scotland’s railway know how important their role is in helping vulnerable people.
