Work of the RNLI
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as the largest lifeboat charity operating in the British Isles; recognises that, since its foundation in 1824 and being granted its Royal Charter in 1860, the RNLI has worked across the Highlands and Islands, Scotland and the UK to save lives, promote safety and educate people on the dangers of sea; acknowledges the importance of the RNLI’s international work, which supports capacity building in countries around the world to enable them to build their own water safety institutions and programmes, and extends its thanks to the RNLI for its continued service at home and abroad.
