Unison Kinneil Band, Britain’s Champions
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Unison Kinneil Band in Bo’ness on winning Champion Band Section One in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, which were held at the Cheltenham Racecourse on 14 September 2019; notes that "the National", as it is known, involves around 600 bands in eight regional qualifying heats that are staged up and down the UK, plus two finals events; understands that the championships have existed in their current format since 1945 and have enjoyed ever increasing popularity over the years; considers that the efforts of those involved in the Unison Kinneil band in winning their section are sensational given the band’s hall was devastated by fire in June 2019; recognises the achievement in the face of adversity is something that the band, and Bo’ness, can be proud of; appreciates the resilience of the band and the surrounding community in overcoming such adversity; congratulates everyone involved in the Unison Kinneil band on their championship win, and wishes them continued success for all future events and competitions.
