Renovation of Kinloss Abbey

Lodged by Jamie Halcro Johnston Standard Motion 22 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the work of the award-winning Moray-based architect, Sir James Dunbar-Nasmith, and the Kinloss Abbey Trust in their efforts in beginning to renovate the former Abbot’s house; acknowledges that this building, whose past visitors have included Mary, Queen of Scots, is of key historical significance to the region; notes that the Trust has been supported by a grant from EB Scotland, as well as smaller awards from the Architectural Heritage Fund and the late businessman from the area, David Urquhart; considers this sort of community initiative to be extremely welcome, and wishes all involved with the Abbey’s ongoing restoration all the best.
