Recovery Walk Scotland 2019

The motion

That the Parliament notes that Recovery Walk Scotland 2019, which is organised by the Scottish Recovery Consortium and the movement of Scottish Recoverists and will take place in Inverness on 21 September; understands that the annual event was founded by the Consortium in 2013 and is led by a council of recovery activists from across the country; notes that it brings together people in recovery, and their families and supporters, to celebrate and remember those who have died because of substance addiction; acknowledges that the theme of this year’s walk is “Compassionate Communities Create…”; notes that there will be a ceremony of remembrance on the banks of the River Ness, followed by a celebration procession and a series of speeches and activities at the Recovery Village in Northern Meeting Park; applauds the work of the Consortium and the other organisations dedicated to promoting recovery and that offer support to people and families throughout their recovery journey; recognises the importance of supporting recovery in addressing what it sees as Scotland’s drug death crisis; commends all taking part in the event, and wishes it continued success.
