Parliamentary Lung Health Champions Appointed
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement of the British Lung Foundation’s parliamentary champions; notes that the foundation is fighting to help the one-in-five people in the UK affected by lung disease, by researching new treatments, campaigning for better awareness and services, and providing support and advice for patients, carers and family members; notes that the parliamentary champions will be in place to look at areas including asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, clean air and healthy lungs; welcomes this additional parliamentary support for lung health, building on the support given by the Lung Health Cross-Party Group; understands that the British Lung Foundation aims to increase the number of lung health champions; recognises that lung disease is Scotland’s third biggest killer, and welcomes this initiative to increase the awareness of lung disease within Parliament.
