Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Celebrates 775th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kirkcaldy Old Kirk on its 775th anniversary; understands that this milestone has been marked with a calendar of events throughout the year ranging from concerts, exhibitions and recitals to a Special Service of Thanksgiving; notes that Kirkcaldy Old Kirk is the site of the first Christian worship in Kirkcaldy and almost 800 years of continuous Christian worship and service to the area, and has remained at the heart of the local community by growing into a busy and popular venue for musical events, drama performances and conferences while retaining Christian worship; further notes the ownership of the Old Kirk by Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Trust, which was established in 2010 by a group of local people to preserve the heritage of Kirkcaldy contained in the Old Kirk; commends the hard work and dedication of the Trust and its volunteers, and wishes them all the best for the future.
