Funding for Magic Torch Comics CIC
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Magic Torch Comics CIC on its success in receiving a Young Start grant of £62,708; recognises that the group will use the funding to work with young people from marginalised groups across Inverclyde to create comics that reflect the imagination, lives and stories of their community; understands that the young people will design, create and distribute the comic books, which will also be showcased at ComicCon; notes that Magic Torch Comics CIC will also deliver community workshops for young people on reading, understanding and creating comics; appreciates that the Young Start initiative is delivered by the Big Lottery Fund and awards dormant bank account monies to projects that help children and young people thrive and realise their potential; believes that Magic Torch Comics CIC is using comics to engage young people in reading, writing and helping them get creative, which is beneficial to their personal development, and wishes the Inverclyde-based group all the best with this project.
