Bo’ness Revival and Hill Climb
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the organisers of the Bo’ness Revival and Hill Climb on another successful event held on the Kinneil Estate in Bo’ness on 31 August and 1 September 2019; notes that hill climbing began at the Kinneil Estate in Bo’ness in 1932 and continued until 1966, and, on 17 May 1947, Bo’ness hosted the first ever round of the British Hill Climb Championship; understands that, over the years of the championship, competitors included Scotland’s two future F1 World Champions, Jim Clark and Sir Jackie Stewart; recognises that 2019 celebrates the 60th anniversary of Jim Clarks’ run at Bo’ness, which he made in a Lotus Elite after driving the same vehicle in the 24 Hours of Le Mans event a week earlier in 1959; believes that the success of these events can be attributed to the businesses and residents of Bo’ness working together to prove once again that the town is a centre of huge community spirit that everyone can take inspiration from; congratulates the organisers of the revival on what it sees as their tireless work to bring these events together, and wishes them and everyone involved continued success for future events.
