That the Parliament welcomes the publication of the British Heart Foundation Scotland report, Bias and Biology; understands that seven women a day in Scotland die from ischaemic heart disease and around 100,000 women in Scotland are living with the condition; believes that around 21,000 women in South Lanarkshire are living with the daily burden of a heart or circulatory disease, including 5,600 living with coronary heart disease, which includes heart attack survivors and those with angina; considers that women living with heart disease in Scotland face disadvantages in awareness, diagnosis, treatment and support; welcomes the recent announcement in the Programme for Government that a Women’s Health Plan will be introduced and that heart disease will be included within that plan, and encourages all parties to come together to debate the recommendations of the report.
