West Dunbartonshire Council Invests in Defibrillators
The motion
That the Parliament commends West Dunbartonshire Council on its purchase of 41 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at a cost of £50,000; understands that these will be installed outside libraries, community centres, leisure centres and businesses to ensure that residents are never far from help, with 12 placed in school campuses; notes that the council has worked in partnership with Headstart and the Scottish Ambulance Service to highlight the importance of AEDs in the community and to provide training sessions to allow people to familiarise themselves with the devices and learn CPR; acknowledges that members of the community are being encouraged to volunteer to become defibrillator guardians and to take responsibility for checking the devices every month so that they are kept in good working order, and commends everyone involved with this initiative.
