Nairn’s Celebrates New Low-sugar Deal with Asda
The motion
That the Parliament commends Nairn’s in Edinburgh on reaching a deal with Asda to supply its new Oat Bar range in stores across Scotland; understands that Nairn’s has developed its new range with 40% less sugar than the average fruit, cereal or flapjack bar, and that it is also gluten-free and vegan; notes that the range launched less than a year ago and has already won a number of top food awards, including Best Snack Award (Oat Bar Range) from Vegan Food & Living, Best Gluten Free Product in the 2019 Best of Health Awards and a coveted Free From Food Award (Mixed Seeds and Protein); understands that Nairn’s was founded in 1896 and is one of the largest producers of oatcakes and top gluten-free brands in the UK; notes that it has been working with Asda since 1996 to take the local product and find a bigger market, and wishes everyone involved continued success with the enterprise.
