Aberdeen Film Project Is A Success at US Film Festival

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a University of Aberdeen project has won the Award of Merit at the Best Shorts competition, a US short film festival in Los Angeles; understands that No Ladies Please is a 12-minute movie telling the true story of a 1973 sex discrimination protest at The Grill on Union Street in Aberdeen; notes that the project was co-ordinated by the University's Elphinstone Institute and was assisted through funding from Aberdeen City Council’s Creative Funding team, a crowdfunding campaign and the Bon Accord Civic Heritage Association; congratulates all those involved in the making and production of the film, and considers the film’s world premiere at Aberdeen's Belmont Filmhouse on 30 September 2019 a success.
