Monquhitter Primary School's Third Green Flag
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Monquhitter Primary School on receiving its third Green Flag Award through the Eco-Schools programme; understands that it is one of 61 schools in Aberdeenshire to have been awarded a Green Flag, and one of 244 in the local authority area registered in the Eco-Schools programme, which it believes to be the largest sustainable schools programme in the world; notes that the programme is operated internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education, which is managed by Keep Scotland Beautiful, and connects 19.5 million children, young people and educators through sustainable development education with 67 countries on five continents; acknowledges that the Monquhitter pupils created litter-picking rotas, grew and sold their own vegetables and planted their own trees; applauds Monquhitter's staff, eco-committee and pupils on their success and effort, and wishes them well.
