Inverclyde Nurse Wins Caring for Others Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Alison Bunce, a senior nurse at Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock, on being recognised at Woman & Home magazine’s Amazing Women Awards; recognises that Alison won the Caring for Others award for her work with the Compassionate Inverclyde charity, which is the first organisation of its kind in Scotland and helps people in the community to care for one another through projects such as "No-one dies Alone" (NODA), which involves companions sitting with a dying patient at Inverclyde Royal Hospital or in a care home so that they are not by themselves; commends Alison for inspiring 160 people to become companions for the NODA project, and notes that a NODA volunteer nominated her for the accolade; applauds Compassionate Inverclyde for also providing Back Home Boxes to people who live alone for when they are discharged from hospital, filled with biscuits, tea, coffee, a blanket that is hand-knitted by volunteers, and a get well card written and designed by local children; believes that Alison is an exemplar role model; thanks her for her hard work and dedication, and wishes the charity well for the future.
