The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Strathclyde Autistic Society on the success of its recent fundraising event in Clydebank, where £1,619 was raised to support the group’s work with families from across Greater Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire who have a child with a diagnosis of autism; acknowledges the energy and enthusiasm of the volunteer and board member, Michael Symington, who the group describe as the driving force behind the fundraising efforts; understands that the organisation, which was founded in the early 1990s as a support group for parents, is based at Centre81 in Clydebank and now provides support to 40 families in the surrounding area, offering telephone support, one-to-one support, youth groups and a befriending service; commends all those involved with the charity who provide such a valuable service for their community, and wishes them well in all future endeavours.
