Bargeddie Primary Pupils Protect Marine Environment

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils from Bargeddie Primary School, which is in the Coatbridge and Chryston constituency, for their participation in the Keep Scotland Beautiful campaign, Upstream Battle Week of Action; notes the aims of the week of action in tackling the 12.37 tonnes of litter that enters the oceans each year, with 80% of all marine litter coming from the land; welcomes the efforts of the campaign in attempting to stop this cycle of litter; understands that the Bargeddie eco-warriors collected a huge haul during their litter pick event; notes that the school’s project, which was run in partnership with McDonald’s and the energy companys Engie, saw the budding environmentalists collect eight bags of rubbish; congratulates all on raising awareness regarding the amount of plastic waste that is discarded and the positive action that they have taken in protecting the marine environment, and wishes them all they very best.
