Arran Mountain Rescue
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Arran Mountain Rescue on the vital work that it has undertaken over the last 55 years to provide a front-line emergency response to people in distress in the island’s mountains and wild places; understands that Arran Mountain Rescue forms part of the 24 volunteer civilian Mountain Rescue network that operates across Scotland; recognises that its team members give up their time freely and without pay when an emergency arises; acknowledges that it is funded by a combination of grant aid, public donations and money raised through fundraising, and notes that, in 2018, Scottish Mountain Rescue teams and their 850 volunteer members responded to 588 incidents, donating 29,091 hours of their time during call-outs to rescue 851 people.
