Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Montrose Port Authority has been selected as the preferred destination for the Operations and Maintenance base for SSE’s Seagreen offshore wind farm; understands that the wind farm is located 27km from the coast, is further offshore than any other Scottish wind farm, and is expected to produce enough renewable energy to power almost half of all households in Scotland; notes that, with a lifetime investment of around £6 billion, the wind farm will represent one of Scotland’s largest ever construction projects; hopes that this project will bring a significant number of jobs to the Montrose area and contribute to the economic development of Angus as a whole, and wishes all involved well in delivering sustainable and renewable energy for Scotland in the months and years ahead.
