Jack Smythe, Prince's Trust Homesense Young Achiever
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Jack Smythe, who is from Clydebank, on winning the Homesense Young Achiever title at the Prince’s Trust Awards ceremony, which was held at the Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh; understands that Jack, who has cerebral palsy, overcame the bullying that he experienced at school and at college because of his disability, to launch his own business, Salvage Metal Art; notes that his uncle taught him to weld and that he combines this skill with his creative abilities and his love of cars to make sculptures and household items from used car parts; commends Jack on his determination to succeed, and recognises the inspiration that it believes he provides for all young disabled people.
