The motion

That the Parliament notes the recommendations in the BHF Scotland report, Bias and Biology; acknowledges that the report calls for improved awareness among the public and health care professionals of heart disease in women, for a national women’s heart champion to be appointed, for SIGN guidelines on heart disease to be reviewed to identify and address any relevant gaps relating to sex-specific issues and for cardiac rehab to be reviewed to ensure that everyone can access a personalised, responsive and flexible service and improved data collection and linkage; welcomes the recent announcement in the Programme for Government that a women’s health plan will be introduced, which will include heart disease; understands that around 43,000 women in the Central Scotland region are living with heart or circulatory disease, and notes the view that, to help to reduce inequality of health outcomes, all parties should come together to debate the report's recommendations.
