Aberdeen Included in Airbnb’s 20 for 2020 List of Trending Destinations
The motion
That the Parliament recognises Aberdeen's inclusion in Airbnb’s global list of 20 destinations to visit in 2020, and that it is the only city in the UK on the list; understands that Airbnb’s list highlights some of the lesser known and eco-conscious cities and countries around the world, based on Airbnb booking data; understands that Aberdeen experienced an impressive 119% year-on-year increase in bookings, and that the city features prominently alongside other places as exciting and diverse as Xi’an in China, Guadalajara in Mexico, Cali in Columbia and Buriram in Thailand; further understands that the accommodation platform praised Aberdeen’s cityscape, fine dining, galleries and museums, as well as its coastal scenery and historic sites in the nearby countryside, and welcomes the potential for homesharing to become a significant contributor to local economies and the tourism sector in the Granite City, which it considers has so much to offer visitors from around the world.
