World Stroke Day, Brenna Collie

The motion

That the Parliament notes that 29 October 2019 is World Stroke Day; recognises 16-year-old Brenna Collie from Strichen for her voluntary work with the Stroke Association to raise awareness of this devastating condition following her own stroke at just 14; congratulates her on being shortlisted in the Young Photographer section of the prestigious Scottish Portrait Awards 2019 as a result of her Higher Photography portfolio, which she based on her recovery; highlights that stroke can happen to anyone of any age, the critical importance of timely access to expertise in acute stroke care and that, with the right treatment, care and support, it is possible to succeed in rebuilding lives after stroke, and wishes Brenna good luck at the awards ceremony in November.
