Govan Reminiscence Group Restores First World War Roll of Honour
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Colin Quigley, Vice Chair of the Govan Reminiscence Group, on restoring a First World War Roll of Honour, which has now been placed in the Govan War Memorial as part of an ongoing restoration project; understands that Colin was dismayed at finding the original 1922 document water damaged and nearly impossible to read any of the names; notes that Colin painstakingly recreated the document, which lists all the names of the Govan soldiers who died during the war, from a copy found 200 miles away in Skye; understands that the restoration has been carried out by Govan Cross Townscape Heritage Initiative, and acknowledges that the Govan Reminiscence Group has now left a permanent message for generations to come, reminding them that the men who gave up their lives were born and raised in Govan.
