The motion

That the Parliament congratulates north east police officers and local organisations following the recent awarding of a Purple Flag for safety to the city of Aberdeen; understands that the award recognises Police Scotland statistics, which show a drop of nearly 52% in house break-ins and a 39% fall in vehicle crimes compared to a five-year average; further understands that acquisitive crime has declined by nearly 29% during this period, serious assaults have reduced by over 10% and common assaults are down by nearly 17%; notes positive efforts to tackle vandalism and fire raising, which saw reductions of over 25% and 23% respectively, and commends the hard work of north east police officers, local organisations, volunteers such as the street pastors, and the wider local community, as everyone strives to ensure the safety of people living and working in Aberdeen.
