10th Anniversary of the Orkney Storytelling Festival

That the Parliament celebrates the 10th consecutive Orkney Storytelling Festival, which brings some of the world’s best storytellers together throughout the islands; notes that the festival runs from 24 to 27 October 2019 and forms an important part of Orkney’s wide and rich culture; recognises that the festival is supported by the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, which importantly ties Orkney into a global community of support, and the Orkney Islands Council Culture Fund; understands that the festival also promotes and supports local storytellers, from beginners to experienced storytellers, during the weekend, and hosts events on a different island each year to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to take part; acknowledges the hard work of the Orcadian Story Trust in organising and running the various events, and wishes them an enjoyable 10th anniversary of the festival and many more successful years to come.
