Lisamaria Purdie of St Ninian's, Livingston, Primary Head of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Lisamaria Purdie, who teaches at St Ninian’s Primary School in Livingston, on being named Headteacher of the year in a Primary School at the Pearson National Teaching Awards 2019; notes that these were established in 1998 by Lord Puttnam to recognise and celebrate excellence in education and that 13 gold awards are presented each year to honour inspirational teachers who are chosen from thousands of nominations from across the UK; acknowledges that Lisamaria was recognised for her innovative and motivational leadership skills, which have helped ensure that St Ninian’s is a trauma-informed school, including through her tireless work as part of the West Lothian ACEs hub, which it considers has been sector-leading and transformative for schools in the area, and wishes Lisamaria every continued success in her teaching career.
