NFU Scotland's North East Region Inaugural Mental Health Conference
The motion
That the Parliament notes NFU Scotland’s North East region’s inaugural Mental Health Conference, which is due to take place in Inverurie on 7 November 2019; understands that the conference will give stakeholders the opportunity to discuss the mental health challenges facing people involved in the farming sector, and how these difficulties have been overcome; acknowledges that representatives from NHS Grampian and Robert Gordon University will be in attendance to discuss the work being undertaken in the north east to better understand the scale of the mental health issues facing farmers, and establish an intervention plan to help those needing support; notes that the National Rural Mental Health Forum will be participating at the conference, and that farmers will speak about the mental health issues they have overcome; commends all involved for raising this important issue facing people working in the farming sector, and sends its best wishes to the organisers and participants for a successful event.
