Larry Barill Recognised as Best Volunteer in Adult Football
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates 84-year-old Larry Barill, from Greenock, on winning a grassroots award for his dedicated service as a manager with Chaplins FC in the Greenock and District Welfare League; understands that Larry won Best Volunteer in Adult Football at the Scottish FA’s Grassroots Awards, held in Hampden Park, for voluntarily running amateur sides for the last 66 years, and continues to do so with Chaplins FC alongside his grandson, Gary; recognises Larry’s commitment, enthusiasm and efforts, which have been beneficial to the local community as it has provided locals with an opportunity to get involved in football therefore contributing to healthy wellbeing in the area; applauds the contributions made by Larry and all volunteers at grassroots levels in Greenock, which all add towards the development of football across Scotland, and wishes Larry, Chaplins FC and all its grassroots volunteers the very best for the future.
