Being a Corporate Lobbyist and SPCB Member are Incompatible
The motion
That the Parliament notes that the former leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, Ruth Davidson MSP, has taken up a job with the London-based lobbying company, Tulchan Communications, on a reported salary of £50,000 for just 24 days a year, which it believes is a full time equivalent pay of £500,000 per annum; considers that lobbyists are employed to use their political influence and knowledge to further the business opportunities of their clients and that having such a paid role is completely incompatible with being a member of the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB); calls on Ms Davidson to stand down from the SPCB and consider her position as an elected Member of the Scottish Parliament, and considers that this case is evidence of the need for reform of the rules around MSPs holding second jobs.
