West Dunbartonshire Community and Volunteering Services Befriending Group
The motion
That the Parliament commends the volunteers from West Dunbartonshire Community and Volunteering Services Befriending Group for the indispensable service that they provide; recognises that befriending services prevent social isolation; provide opportunities to participate in social activities and improve health and wellbeing; notes that the West Dunbartonshire befrienders have provided 11,000 hours of social contact and companionship to people who need it most; congratulates the group on the release of a video to mark Befrienders Week 2019, in which the volunteers perform a special version of the classic folk song, Wild Mountain Thyme, and thanks the group for its invaluable service.
