Morton Community Trust to Serve Christmas Dinner to More Than 70 Inverclyde Residents
The motion
That the Parliament applauds Greenock Morton FC's charitable arm, the Morton Community Trust, on teaming up with River Clyde Homes, Compassionate Inverclyde and Amazon in Gourock for its fourth "festive friends" event at Cappielow; notes that, for the first time, it will take place on Christmas Day; understands that more than 70 Inverclyde residents will enjoy a delicious Christmas Day meal thanks to the project, which is aimed at people who many spend the day on their own; recognises that the event is being held in collaboration with Taylor Barnes, who has organised a free dinner for some of the most vulnerable people in Inverclyde in each of the last two years; appreciates that Morton will open Cappielow for guests to sit down, relax and enjoy a festive feast with company in the hospitality lounge, having been invited based on referrals from those involved in organising the event; believes that the aim of the dinner, which is to tackle loneliness as well as supporting those who are struggling for a variety of reasons, is commendable, and thanks everyone involved in organising the event and staffing it on the day for giving up their time to ensure that others have a happy Christmas.
