Welcoming the Orkney Film Focus Festival 2019

That the Parliament welcomes the third Orkney Film Focus Festival, which is a celebration of film-making in Orkney that runs from 1 to 23 November 2019; notes that there will be over 130 individual screenings and events running across 22 venues, including two mini festivals taking place in Shapinsay and Stromness; understands that the festival offers events for everyone to enjoy, including local short films, a silent cinema, talks and readings, screenings for young people and even a film-themed disco; recognises that the festival is supported by Film Hub Scotland, West Side Cinema and Orkney Islands Council, and is funded by BFI and Creative Scotland; further recognises that Orkney Ferries, Pentland Ferries and Cooke Aquaculture are providing local support for events; acknowledges that many different groups and individuals are involved with planning and organising the festival and ensuring that it takes place across as many venues and communities as possible; recognises the impressive amount of hard work that goes into ensuring a successful festival, and wishes all involved the best of luck for another memorable Orkney Film Focus Festival.
