The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Trimontium Museum Trust on the Trimontium Museum, which is located in Melrose and specialises in the Borders’ Roman history, receiving a grant of £395,000 from the South of Scotland Economic Partnership; understands that this money will go towards upgrading the museum and developing its learning programme; considers that the museum plays an important role in highlighting the area’s Roman heritage, with the name Trimontium, meaning “three hills”, coming from the site of a nearby large frontier fort for the Romans set up in the first and second centuries AD, and hopes that this funding will allow the museum to further share this fascinating history.
