The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jordan Fairlamb, who works for Dawnfresh Seafoods, which is based at Bothwell Industrial Park in the Uddingston and Bellshill constituency, on being announced as a finalist in the Modern Apprentice (SCQF Level 6+) of the Year category at the 18th Scottish Apprenticeship Awards; notes that these awards are organised by Skills Development Scotland and bring together apprentices, employers and training providers to celebrate the contribution that apprenticeships make; understands that a record number of nominations have been made this year; believes that this reflects the growth and diversity of apprenticeships; notes that Jordan has been recognised for his role as a member of the Scottish Apprenticeship Network, his activities as an apprentice ambassador on the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board and for sharing with school pupils his experiences of work-based learning in the food and drink industry; notes that he is responsible for the day-to-day ordering of salmon for Dawnfresh and manages stock worth £1.8 million; acknowledges that he successfully rotated £100,000 of at-risk stock, which made a major saving for the business, and has helped develop and increase sales; wishes Jordan, and all of the other finalists, well at the awards, which will be presented on 7 November 2019 at the Caird Hall, Dundee, and believes that this event offers an important opportunity to recognise the significant and important contribution that apprentices make to Scotland’s communities and economy.
