Flows to the Future Project
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Flows to the Future Project in the Flow Country of Caithness and Sutherland as it comes to an end after five very successful years, and recognises everyone that has been involved at all levels; notes the removal of 837.4 hectares of non-native tree removal on deep peat and 564 hectares of regenerating non-native conifers; appreciates the work of the 270 volunteers who were trained and carried out conservation work, contributing over 5,500 days to the project; notes the installation of the lookout tower, information viewpoints, the visitor centre and the residence for visiting artists; celebrates the very successful museum and visitor displays, including the touring exhibition that has travelled to 13 UK venues and has been seen by 150,000 people; acknowledges that more important work on the Flows will be carried out in future by the Peatlands Partnership, and wishes everyone involved good luck for the future and in the World Heritage Site bid.
