Mouth Cancer Awareness Month
The motion
That the Parliament notes that November marks Mouth Cancer Awareness Month; praises the work of mouth cancer charities and fundraisers in improving awareness of this oral disease; underlines that, while mouth cancer is the sixth most prevalent cancer worldwide, it remains that nine out of 10 cases could be prevented by adopting lifestyle changes; recognises that self-examination can improve early detection and ensure a greater chance of survival; notes the tremendous fundraising efforts by the Kelty cancer survivor, Barbara Boyd, of over £1,900 on behalf of Let's Talk About Mouth Cancer, and welcomes all efforts to raise awareness of such a preventable life-threatening disease.
