Mark Clougherty Selected for Invictus Games Team
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Clydebank-born veteran, Mark Clougherty, on being chosen to represent the UK at the Invictus Games in the Hague in 2020; understands that the former Royal Military Policeman will compete in a racing wheelchair in the time trial and criterium events over 100, 200, 400 and 1,500 metres, as well as the one-minute and four-minute rowing events; understands that Mark, who served in Iraq and has a range of complex physical and mental health challenges, will take his place as one of 65 men and women selected to represent the UK at the Games; recognises the tremendous dedication and determination necessary to reach this level; believes that Mark and his teammates are an inspiration to others with life-changing injuries or illness, and wishes him success at Invictus 2020.
