Fife Veteran Supports Help for Heroes Campaign
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Ken de Soyza on his work to support the Help for Heroes campaign; notes that the campaign is focused on seeking improvements in the way that armed forces veterans are medically discharged into civilian life; understands that, in polling by Help for Heroes, 70% of wounded veterans described their medical discharge as “negative”; further understands that more that 60% of those surveyed said they felt they had not received enough support while transitioning out of the armed forces; notes that Ken is a former RAF Squadron Leader from Kirkcaldy who was discharged after 22 years of service when an undiagnosed and untreated service-related back injury led to severe spasms; commends Ken for his efforts to support the Help for Heroes campaign, and further commends the 40,000 people who support the charity for the work that they do to support veterans.
