Thanks to Grahame Smith of the STUC
The motion
That the Parliament notes the retirement of Grahame Smith, the General Secretary of the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC); understands that Grahame, who is an economics and industrial relations graduate from the University of Strathclyde, joined the STUC in 1986, initially as an NHS campaign coordinator, and went on to be appointed Assistant Secretary in 1988 and Deputy General Secretary in 1998, before becoming General Secretary in 2006; acknowledges his 30 years of commitment to the Scottish trades union movement and dedication to the rights of working people; thanks Grahame for his excellent service and wishes him well for the future, and looks forward to him continuing to be involved in campaigning and to contribute to public life in Scotland.
