Rookie Rockstars Funding Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Kirkintilloch-based Rookie Rockstars, a children’s charity that provides mental health support through music, on being awarded £5,000 in the UK-wide Persimmon Homes’ Building Futures competition; understands that the group reached the final stage after competing against 96 other organisations; acknowledges that the charity provides a four-day primary schools' programme aimed at giving young people the chance to create and record original songs with professional musicians, offers mental health counselling for children and young people, and has a School of Music, which is understood to be the largest independent music school in Scotland, and commends Rookie Rockstars for providing opportunities for children and young people to express themselves creatively, and also on the work it does to destigmatise discussions around mental health and wellbeing for children and young people.
