Tour of Britain Cycle Race Comes to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils have agreed a deal to bring the prestigious Tour of Britain cycle race to the north east in 2020 and 2021; understands that the 2020 race will cross the finish line in Aberdeen after a final stage taking in large parts of the surrounding countryside, and that the city will also host the Grand Depart in 2021; recognises that this deal builds on the success of the annual Tour Series cycling race, which has been held in Aberdeen in each of the last three years, and looks forward to welcoming world-class cyclists and cycling fans to the north east in 2020 and 2021.
