The Ewan Galloway Scottish Dance Band Nominated for the Scots Trad Music Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Dalkeith-based band, The Ewan Galloway Scottish Dance Band, on being nominated for Scottish Dance Band of the Year at the 2019 MG Scots Trad Music Awards; recognises that the award is prestigious and that even a nomination goes a long way toward highlighting the band's skills; appreciates that the band has been trying to keep Scottish dance music in the limelight, therefore helping to preserve the rich culture of Scottish dance and music; understands that, in June 2019, band leader Ewan Galloway quit his job to fully pursue his goal of putting Scottish dance back into the mainstream; appreciates that Ewan and his band mates are dedicated to keeping this part of Scottish culture alive in modern times, and wishes them all the best in the competition.
