Programming Boost for the North East
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the re-commissioning of the BBC Scotland series, The Children's Hospital, a popular documentary series on the work of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital; understands that the first series of the programme has received warm reviews, and looks forward to the second series airing in 2020; understands that this comes alongside the BBC re-commissioning the programme, Landward, a 26-part countryside magazine strand made in Aberdeen, as well as the newly announced second series of Fish Town, which looks at Peterhead harbour and the fishing industry; recognises that Aberdeen is already set to host the 2019 BBC Sports Personality of the Year programme, as well as the 2019 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards; considers that these programmes represent a significant boost for the north east of Scotland’s television production sector, and hopes that they will highlight the strengths of the region to people all across Scotland and the wider UK.
